Greater Manchester
Hypervolt installer in Greater Manchester.
As a Hypervolt installer across Greater Manchester, we fit the Home 3 Pro in 3 towns, 24 to 32 miles from our Ellesmere Port base, where private owners had 20,480 plug-in cars licensed by June 2026.
In short
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is a 7.4 kW single-phase, tethered home charger with solar modes and load management on the incoming supply. We check the supply and the cable route, fit it, and notify the network operator, in every Greater Manchester town on our map; England’s planning rules change on 21 October 2026.

The roof studio
Turn the house, fill the roof.
A Cheshire semi on a turntable. Drag it round, then tell it about your roof and your house — the panels, the battery, the current running through it and the numbers all move together.

Of what the roof generates
Worked out for a typical Cheshire roof at the pitch and aspect you picked, on a unit rate of 28p and an export rate of 6.5p — rates this tool assumes, dated September 2026, rather than any tariff you have been offered. Nothing here is a quotation: your roof, your shading and how much electricity you use while the sun is up are what the survey settles.
Take the figures with you.
Copy what the studio worked out for your roof, or send it straight to us with a survey request. None of it is a quote: the survey replaces every figure above with your own.
Every assumption behind the numbers
- Unit rate
- 28p for every unit (kWh) you’d otherwise buy from the grid.
- Export rate
- 6.5p for every unit the house and battery can’t use and send back to the grid.
- Your yearly use
- Worked out from your monthly bill at the 28p unit rate, after a standing charge of about 36p a day — and never less than 1,100 kWh a year.
- What a panel makes
- Each panel is 440 W (0.44 kWp). A kWp makes 880 kWh a year facing south, 760 facing east–west and 620 facing north-ish. For this part of Cheshire the EU’s PVGIS model gives 951 for a south roof at a typical pitch — the studio stays below it.
- Pitch
- Shallow (28°) makes 95% of a typical 38° roof; steep (48°) makes 97%.
- Shading
- A bit of shade costs 10%; heavy shade costs 24%.
- How many panels
- Two rows, growing with your bill from three columns to eight — six panels up to sixteen.
- How much you use yourself
- The share of what the roof makes that the house uses: 30% if you’re usually out, 46% in and out, 62% usually home. A battery adds 24 points and a car charger 6, up to 86% — and never more than 62% of your whole year’s use.
- Saving
- The units you use yourself at 28p, plus the units you export at 6.5p.
- Payback
- The yearly saving set against what a system like the one you’ve built typically costs to install: a base figure, an amount for each panel, and more again for a battery or a charger. The answer is held between 4 and 25 years. The studio never shows that cost, because only a survey can price your roof — so treat the years as a rough guide, not a figure to hold us to.
Monthly and yearly sunshine for this area: PVGIS 5.2, EU Joint Research Centre. The unit rate, the export rate and the standing charge are the studio’s own assumptions, set in September 2026 — not a tariff we have quoted you. Your own rates are on your bill, and a survey works from those.
Greater Manchester in figures
Home charging across Greater Manchester.
- 20,480 privately kept plug-in carsAcross the 3 councils our Greater Manchester towns sit in, at the end of June 2026: up from 13,912 a year earlier, about 47% more.
- 1,561 public chargersIn the same councils on 1 July 2026. Public charging is for the journey; the cheap charging is the overnight kind, on the drive.
- 65% of households have a carAround the centres of our 3 towns in 2021, and 24% have two or more; 62% live in a house, where off-street parking is most likely (Census 2021).
- 882 to 926 kWh per kWpWhat a south-facing roof makes in a year across the region, from Stockport to Altrincham (PVGIS): the surplus a solar mode can put into a car.

The network paperwork across Greater Manchester.
Of our 3 towns in Greater Manchester, 0 are on SP Energy Networks’ SP Manweb network, 3 on Electricity North West. Each town page names its own.
spenergynetworks.opendatasoft.com · electricitynorthwest.opendatasoft.comA home charger is notified to the network operator. Under the Energy Networks Association’s connect-and-notify process, where the home’s maximum demand stays at 60 amps per phase or less the charger is fitted first and notified within 28 days; above that, the operator is asked first.

On the survey
Fitting a Hypervolt charger: what we check.
- The clamp has to reach the meter tails, so the cable run back to the meter is planned before the unit goes up.
- The circuit feeding the charger gets its own MCB or RCBO at the board, since Hypervolt leaves that part to the installer.
- IP66 and IK10 on a wall or a post, rated −25 °C to 40 °C, which covers an exposed wall through a Cheshire winter.
- With an AC-coupled home battery a second clamp, CT2, is added so the charger can see the battery.

Hypervolt in Greater Manchester: what people ask.
If yours isn’t here, give us a ring and ask, or see every question.
Yes: in all 3 towns on our map for the region, from Altrincham (24 miles from our base) to Stockport (32 miles). Each town has its own charger page with the local planning and network detail.
Usually not. In England a wall charger is normally permitted development, and from 21 October 2026 it can go anywhere within a home’s curtilage up to 1.6 metres high, except on that new route in a conservation area. A listed house is different.
Yes. Hypervolt publishes an Eco mode that puts solar and home-battery energy first and a Super-Eco mode that uses nothing else; it sees the surplus through a current clamp on the supply cable. Across Greater Manchester, May to July make about 37% of a south-facing roof’s year.
Tethered: Hypervolt says all its chargers have the cable permanently attached, in 5, 7.5 or 10 metre lengths.
We do. If the home’s peak stays within 60 amps a phase, the notice goes in within 28 days of the install. In Greater Manchester that goes to SP Manweb or Electricity North West, depending on the town.
